I’m happy to note that the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority has released a tentative schedule for its new commuter rail service, the Capital MetroRail, aka the Red Line.

Report outlines decline in Texas construction

According to the Austin Business Journal today, they report that Texas is expected to experience a considerable slowdown in construction activity in 2009, according to a report issued by McGraw-Hill Construction.

AUSTIN TO LOSE 2,800 JOBS IN 2009, CHICAGO TO LOSE 80,300

As per the Austin Business Journal today:
A report prepared for the U.S. Conference of Mayors forecasts the Austin-Round Rock region will actually shed some 2,800 jobs in 2009, a decline of 0.4 percent.
 
They said the report also anticipates that the local unemployment rate will rise from 4.8 percent at the end of 2008 [...]

HOME SALES DROP IN AUSTIN. HOW FAR DID THEY GO?

Guess what percent single-family home sales in the Austin metro area were down in December 2008?

I couldn’t believe people were actually wearing white to the festival. Yellow wasn’t much better. Duh!
