Do you remember The Movie, Uncle Buck? Remember the part when someone tells him his car is on-fire?

Do you still see people with their cars “on fire?”

Call this number to Report Smoking Vehicles. The car needs to be put to rest for our environment’s sake. Wouldn’t you agree?

800-453-SMOG (7664)

It’s one small step to reducing our carbon footprint.

Wish-List For The Blind and Dyslexic—It’s EASY To HELP!

By Molly Greaves

As part of my volunteer packet for the RFB&D, there was a “wish list” included for the Austin office. I thought I’d post it since some of you may have this stuff in your attic or garage.

1. Novel size and textbook size book stands/rests.

2. Reference books–for their reference library.

3. Art to be hung in their office for 2 months.  Artists can choose to sell the art, or take it home at the end of the time.

4. Food-opening events need food, and snacks for volunteers.

5.  Table Captains for their Celebration Event–which is a free fundraising event.

HAVE YOU EVER MEASURED YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT? Calculate your electricity CO2 print, your car’s CO2 print, and if you want to be really ambitious, you can even calculate your “flying footprint” measuring your trips that you take via air!

Originally from Vermont–The Green Mountain State–and having lived there 18 long years as a kid, I have always known about Green Mountain Energy since I can remember. Green Mountain Energy  also now has an office right here in Austin, Texas, so I find myself checking their website frequently to see what’s up.

They have a GREAT website and have an AWESOME carbon calculator, available to you and me for FREE. It takes about 5 seconds to use and it’s super simple—just grab your electric bill or check the milage of your car to get started. If you really want to be ambitious, you can even track your “flying footprint” measuring your trips that you take via air!

Enjoy!
